Brokaw

Celebrated news anchor Tom Brokaw joins the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square for a special Music and the Spoken Word which commemorates the ten-year anniversary of 9/11. The special, entitled “9/11: Rising Above,” will air on radio, television, cable networks and Internet channels around the country.

Choir music director Mack Wilberg said the program will focus on how Americans have risen above the grief and loss of that September day. “The message of this show is that—as individuals and as a nation—we can find healing and strength in adversity and literally rise above all the negatives.”

“9/11: Rising

Above” will be broadcast on Sunday, 11 September on approximately 750 stations and networks in the US and Canada. A large number of these (including many NBC network affiliates) will be carrying a Music & the Spoken Word program for the first time. Airtimes and station information can be found at www.musicandthespokenword.org, or by checking local listings.

NOTE:  Because this special was pre-recorded at an earlier time, the live broadcast in the Tabernacle on Sunday morning, 11 September will be a different program. Temple Square visitors wishing to see “9/11: Rising Above” can view it in the North Visitors Center Theatre at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, 11 September.

Music and the Spoken Word has aired on network radio since it began in 1929. It originates from the Tabernacle on historic Temple Square every Sunday as well as from the Conference Center and is broadcast on 2,000 radio, television, Internet and cable networks across the world.

The weekly broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word is free and does not require a ticket.
