Most people who have ever lived have vanished without leaving a single trace of archaeological evidence proving that they even existed. Lawrence Mykytiuk, however, has now identified 53 individuals in the Old Testament whose reality seems to be confirmed in inscriptions written during the biblical period.
Near the beginning of his record, Jacob clarified that the Nephites and Lamanites were actually divided into seven distinct tribes: “Nephites, Jacobites, Josephites, Zoramites, Lamanites, Lemuelites, and Ishmaelites”. These same tribal affiliations functioned as a “social and legal order that lasted … for almost one thousand years.”
