The Church History Library sponsors a series of lectures titled Men and Women of Faith, where speakers look at men and women from Church history, their stories of faith and trials and lessons that can be learned from them.
The next upcoming lecture will be given on February 14th at 7 pm by Elder Steven E. Snow, Church Historian and Recorder, about Erastus Snow. The event will take place at the Assembly Hall at Temple Square.
Erastus Snow, a leader and colonizer in the Church, helped establish settlements on the Virgin and Santa Clara Rivers, including St. George, Utah. He was responsible for opening the Scandinavian Mission in 1850 and for the translation of the latter-day scriptures into Danish. A biographer declared that Erastus Snow was “in every sense of the word, truly an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
