The nation paid tribute to the 38th President yesterday as his funeral was held in the National Cathedral here in Washington, D.C. Fox News reported: “The nation remembered Gerald R. Ford on Tuesday for what he didn’t have — pretensions, a scheming agenda, a great golf game — as much as for the small-town authenticity he brought to the presidency.”

“In President Ford, the world saw the best of America, and America found a man whose character and leadership would bring calm and healing to one of the most divisive moments in our nation’s history,” President Bush said in his eulogy.

Thanks to Bill Slaughter of the Church Archives who responded to a phone call from Meridian to see if he could find any pictures of President Gerald R. Ford with any of the Brethren. He told us that they have about 200 pictures of various U.S. Presidents with the First Presidency and he was able to find three of President Ford.

We publish the following three photographs of President Ford in settings that will be familiar to our readers. Please click on any of the three photos to enlarge them.

President Spencer Kimball talked to President Ford as he looked at a Triple Combination presented to him as a gift. First Lady Betty Ford looked at The Mormon Way, an illustrated book by James A. Warner and Styne M. Slade that was published in 1976.
