The 2nd Family Outreach Conference

PROVO, UT – The BYU School of Family Life and the Family Life Education Institute announce their co-sponsoring of an exciting one-day conference focused on the many ways any citizen can better strengthen the institutions of marriage and the family within their own communities. Presentations will help participants get involved in making a difference, whatever your talents or time constraints may be.

Designed specifically to bring together all who are interested in strengthening families, the Family Outreach Conference is a forum where participants can learn better ways to answer the call of the Proclamation of the Family “to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family.” While the conference will be of great interest and value to the professionals in the family and other fields, it is also meant to reach individuals of varying backgrounds who share an interest in strengthening families in informal ways.

The Conference, co-sponsored by BYU’s School of Family Life and the Family Life Education Institute, will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ernest L. Wilkinson Center at Brigham Young University on Friday February, 6th 2004. It will feature a plenary panel, breakout sessions conducted by family advocates working and serving in various realms, displays of existing family-strengthening efforts, and how-to learning on a range of topics, from finding the right resources to reaching families.

Here’s what some of our conference participants have said about the conference: “It was so valuable to learn how to actually implement programs and ideas, rather than just learn why families are so important–practical implementation and use.” And “My view was vastly enlarged as to what is being done, what can be done, and how I can play a role. Plus, I am convinced that I can do something helpful.”

Everyone that is interested in strengthening marriages and families is welcome to attend and can register online at www.family-outreach.com. Conference materials and further information can be obtained by calling 1-800-452-5662 or emailing info@familylifeeducation.org. Registration, including lunch and materials, is $35, for those who cannot attend, materials are available for $8, and current student registration is complimentary thanks to the School of Family Life.
