This has been quite a year for Meridian.  We launched Meridian 3.0 in the summer and were excited to see the new look and your response to it.  We’ve added wonderful writers this year.  We have added correspondents.  We’ve added graphics and colors that have never been on Meridian before.  We have technology in place that allows us to launch the magazine from remote locations and to easily edit ‘on-the-fly.’  And with all of this—it still costs us a lot of money to produce this daily magazine.  Like a dairy farm, the demands are daily.

Donation_0001We came to you thirteen months ago (for the second time) to ask for a yearly, voluntary donation.  We’re coming to you again.

We’ve given our all this past year; would you be willing to give a little back in return?

We asked you this question before:  What is Meridian Worth to You?

Is it worth the cost of two first-run movie tickets for a year’s worth of daily Meridian (blast–our local theater ticket prices are now $12.75 each!)?

Is Meridian worth half or a third of the cost of one dinner for two at a mediocre restaurant for 261 issues, 2,000 original articles, and more than 10,000 up-to-the-minute news links in a year?

Many of you responded so generously in the past—not only with checks, credit card donations and PayPal advances, but with kind notes and letters of encouragement.

We’re coming to you again—because you agreed that a voluntary subscription was a great idea—and we really do need your help.

It takes so much to keep Meridian afloat.  Mostly it’s just sheer determination and sweat that keeps this daily-updated magazine alive.  The past two years of bad economy have taken their toll on us.  We still have a ways to go to come out of the hole—but we are on our way out!

A people’s magazine, like Meridian, only exists because everybody helps.

We love to bring you big doses of information, inspiration, insight and fun each day, but it takes means to do it. Will you help us?

Every media outlet is feeling the pinch of these economic times. Print magazines are getting thinner. Newspapers are swimming in red ink. We don’t change in what we deliver each day, except on the back end where there are longer hours and fewer staff.

Most of you tacked on post-it notes or wrote in the memo line of your check encouraging words and thoughts of gratitude. The most common one we received was “Keep up the good work!” Many of you said, “Come to us again, don’t wait until it’s too late.” “We love what you do.” “ Meridian is my home page and my uplift each morning.” “I love Meridian —don’t ever stop bringing it to us.” We literally received untold hundreds of notes of encouragement and enthusiasm.

We’ve worked these past thirteen months and published nearly 300 more issues of Meridian, and we intend to keep on doing it.

But now we are coming to you again.

If you didn’t give last year, could you donate this year?

If you did give last year, could you give again?

Is Meridian Magazine worth $20 to you? Is it worth $10?  Although only a small percentage of our readership responded this past year, most of you who did respond said yes—Meridian IS worth a donation of $20.

We received this note from Mary, a reader not of our faith:

“I hope it’s OK for me to share your website, even though I’m not LDS. I am a United Methodist and I was raised in a home with the same values that I see are taught and discussed in Meridian. I don’t know what has happened to our world that it seems we have lost our way. I feel renewed by what I have read and meditated on here. I will come back daily. Thanks for sharing with me. I hope I can reflect Christ’s love in my life.”

It’s readers like Mary who really keep us going. Would you be willing to help us continue to bring you Meridian by giving generously this year?
