SALT LAKE CITY — Australian soprano Elena Xanthoudakis, an experienced oratorio performer, will present a concert tonight in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. Her concert is part of the prize for winning the Mathy Award in the 2003 Australian Singing Competition.

Xanthoudakis has performed in Italy, Germany, Russia, Hong Kong, Australia and London, where she is pursuing a master’s degree at the Guildhall of Music and Drama. She was the 2004 winner of the Australian National Liederfest and has won numerous other competitions and awards.

She completed her bachelor of music performance (voice) with honors at the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia in 2001. In June 2003, she completed a master of music performance at the University of Melbourne. She also holds a graduate diploma of opera from the Victorian College of the Arts.

Although her singing is articulate and technically precise, she communicates with her audience with a performance of one who feels her music and enjoys it immensely.

The concert is at 7:30 P.M. It will include music from a variety of composers, from Handel and Bach to Bernstein and Gershwin.  Tickets are not necessary.
