With Halloween just a few days away, here are some fun and easy ideas to make for your family or for a special party. You will enjoy making them and delight your guests.
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Tastes best if you boil seeds first in salted water and uses young pumpkin seeds
2 cup of pumpkin seeds
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon salt
Rinse pumpkin seeds until pulp and strings are washed off. Boil seeds in salt water for 10 minutes. Dry seeds on paper towel.
In medium bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce, melted butter or margarine and salt. Add seeds. Sir until seeds are coated with mixture. Spread on baking sheet. Bake 1 to hours 2 hours at 225 ° F. Stir occasionally and watch for burning. Seeds should be crisp. Makes 2 cups.
Paper Plate Skeleton
This is perfect for hanging from doors and windows. It is also easy to make and can be used from year to year. Cut white paper plates according to pattern. Join parts of skeleton by punching small holes with paper punch at each point of contact. Tie parts together with string. Draw or paint features on skeleton’s face. Accent skeleton’s scary face by cutting out eyes, noses and mouth. Paste a sheet of black construction paper on back of plate so paper shows through holes. If both sides of skeleton will show, attach an additional paper plate to form the back of the head. To give the whole skeleton makes a double of each piece and staple them together.
Ghost Suckers Special for Trunk or Treat or Trucker Treat
The only way for kids to know that the treat they receive are really safe to eat is to give them wrapped candy. Now days a kid can, in just a few hours, pick up a few pound of wrapped candy. For those who would like to make their trunk for treat or trick or treat special, a great way to do it is to make ghost suckers. I like to take the wrapped Tootsie Roll Pops suckers and place the center of it in the middle of two tissues one place on top of the other. Now bring it down over the sucker and tie a piece of black or orange yarn around it with a nice bow. Next take a small felt tipped pen and make two eyes on the tissue. You now had made the sucker into a special Halloween ghost.
