Mormon Tabernacle Choir rising on Billboard Charts Ring Christmas Bells soloist Brian Stokes Mitchell also featured on the TODAY show The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s new album, Ring Christmas Bells,hit No. 4 on Billboard’s classical crossover chart. Ring Christmas Bells (Mormon Tabernacle Choir, $18.98), is also listed at No. 5 on the classical overall chart. “Our annual Christmas albums have been a source of delight for many people, and many folks think that it’s not Christmas without a new Mormon Tabernacle Choir CD,” said Scott Barrick, the Choir’s general manager. “We are gratified with its reception in the marketplace and thrilled to be able to be a part of people’s Christmas.” In Ring Christmas Bells, two national icons come together as America’s Choir meets Broadway’s leading man. In this 16-track album, the talents of Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell -one of Broadway’s brightest stars -combine with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, along with a huge bell choir of more than 100 members. The CD is comprised of live recordings from the choir’s 2008 Christmas concert from Temple Square, a musical spectacle that was seen in person by more than 80,000 last year. The album received national attention Friday, as the TODAY show featured Brian Stokes Mitchell singing a track from the album, The Christmas Song/ACrazy Christmas List.
