We have a new topic today, suggested by a reader who feels guilty about accepting callings. Lots of you have been in her shoes, so let’s see what she has to say:
What should you do when you are issued callings or assignments that you just don't think you can accept, such as seminary teacher, or accompanist to a special choir, or something that is not just far out of your comfort zone, but also far outside your areas of expertise? Often you are put on a guilt trip if you decline, for whatever reason.
I would like to accept whatever callings I am given, but sometimes it's just not the right time for me, or I don't have the necessary skills.
Pam, this is an issue all of us can relate to. I’m sure readers have lots of good stories about accepting (or declining) stories, so I’m going to leave it to them to tell us their experiences.
If you want to respond to Pam, send an email to email@example.com">firstname.lastname@example.org. DO NOT USE THE FORM ON THIS PAGE, because those often get lost. Just click on the above link and write to us. Pam needs to hear what you have to say!
Until next week – Kathy
