Time Out for Mom

My 3-year-old, Eden, wanted something and I told her I was taking a break. She said, "OK, when you're done breaking."

A Preschooler’s Love Song

Recently I had this interchange with a 4-year-old boy and his mom in our ward:

Me: I'm sorry you won't be in Primary to practice with us today.  We're singing for our moms in Sacrament Meeting next week for Mother's Day.

Mother:  Tell me what songs you're doing and I'll help him practice them at home.

Me:  Mother Dear I Love You So, and Love is Spoken Here.

4-year-old:  I know Mother's Smokin' Here!

Animal Kingdom

I took Karyssa to a pond to feed the ducks. She was so excited when we saw a mother duck sitting on her eggs. She made me laugh when she said: "Where is her husband? Maybe he's at work. He needs to hold her flipper when she has her babies!"

Econ 101

When one of our grandsons was about four, I offered him a dollar if he could tell me which president's face was on the bill. He replied with the only president he knew: "President Hinckley!"

Sorting it All Out

My newly-turned-3-year-old daughter was looking at the hymnbook during sacrament meeting. She wanted to know what the word on the front of the book was. I told her it says: “Hymns.” She responded by pointing at the bishopric and asking in a confused voice: "Hims?"

The Never Ending Story

I was telling my older boys that I love them and they said back to me, "Love you more.”  Then my youngest said: "Mommy, I love you never ending.”  What a way to end a great day!
