The Facts of Life

My 3-year-old grandson and I were putting a puzzle together when his 23-month-old brother grabbed some of the pieces and started to run away. The 3-year-old yelled: "He's a baby. I don't want to buy any more babies!"

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

I haven’t had as much one-on-one time with my youngest granddaughter as I’ve had with her older siblings, and she’s been a little standoffish around me. At a recent family gathering her 9-year-old sister

explained to her: “That’s Grandma. You’re supposed to smile and be happy when you see her.”

Magical Moment
My 7-year-old granddaughter received a new globe for her birthday and we were locating cities and countries where family members have lived, served missions, or visited. When I pointed out the Grand Canyon she said: “Oh, Grandma, all my life I’ve wanted to see the Grand Canyon.”

Line Upon Line

Today while driving to church we saw some missionaries riding their bikes.  I said, "Oh, look—it’s the missionaries!” to my son, Josh, who is almost 5 years old.  "What are missionaries?" he asked.   Just after finishing a deep and lengthy explanation, he said: "Look, Mom!  I found some fuzz!"  Clearly the lecture took hold.

With Real Intent

A few nights ago as I drew my family together to say family prayer, it was my 6-year-old daughter’s turn to pray.  We had to laugh when she included this plea in her prayer: "And bless that no harm or axe will fall upon us.”
