E-mail rumor promising huge protests at LDS Conference unfounded

An inflammatory e-mail is circulating around the country, saying Salt Lake City police officers are preparing for up to 200,000 protesters during the LDS General Conference in April, and it's causing concern in both the Latter-day Saint and gay communities.
The e-mail begins with reference to a good friend whose dad, who supposedly works for the Salt Lake City Police Department, says police are putting in extra hours doing riot training.

Carole Mikita has worked for KSL-TV News since June of 1979 as an anchor and reporter. Currently, she is a senior reporter who specifically covers religion and the arts.
She won a regional Emmy for "Gideon's Story" and awards from the Society for Professional Journalists and the Utah Broadcasters Association for both news stories and the documentaries.
Carole produces and hosts a weekly radio program, "People of Faith" for KSL Radio.
Carole grew up in Steubenville, Ohio and was graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. She is married to Neil York, a history professor at Brigham Young University. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Caitlin.
