The Church History Museum of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will launch a new online exhibit titled “‘Behold My Beloved Son’: The Savior in the Americas” on August 24, 2016. The exhibit’s artworks, available on the museum’s website, portray the mercy and majesty of Christ’s triumphant appearance to his people in the Western Hemisphere.
The new exhibit focuses on three aspects of that event. The first section of the exhibit draws upon artistic representations of the moment of arrival, where the majesty of the Savior is reflected in the awestruck faces of his people. The second set of artworks portray Christ’s merciful, one-by-one ministrations to the multitude. Finally, the exhibit shows the Lord’s invitation for all the little children present to join him.
Church History Museum Director Alan Johnson adds, “These images truly convey the message that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer. We hope that all who view these wonderful artworks will feel a desire to study His life and teachings and to come closer to Him.”
The exhibit will be available at https://history.lds.org/exhibit/-christ-in-the-americas-exhibit?lang=eng.
