Bob - yes, every change in your diet, when you have health issues, needs to be followed by a doctor. You might be interested in reading what Jane Birch has to say about grains. You can find this article and many other great ones on discoveringthewordofwisdom.com. Junk - I invite you to read all about the Whole Food Plant-Based way of nutrition. It's fascinating, including the fact that all the protein you need is found in plants. And, if you eat the other healthy foods, such as legumes, beans, starches, potatoes, etc., you will never be hungry. It's a win-win!

I have not read all of the articles in this series, so if this subject has been mentioned previously, i believe it bears repeating. An accurate diagnosis of any underlying problems is essential to any long term success. In my wifes case, Hashimotos Disease and specific food sensitivities were making it impossible for her to achieve long term weight loss. We eat a pretty clean diet - we always have, but we do eat meat. An elimination diet prescribed by the doctor revealed food sensitivities which were causing inflammation problems - grains specifically prescribed by the Word Of Wisdom are currently off limits - all common grains, almost all sweeteners, dairy and diary products. Vegetables, nut milks, meat and fish in any quantities are ok. These restrictions, combined with minimal exercise - walking for an hour 2-3 times a week, and the weight has fallen off with NO calorie restrictions and no gut busting exercise regimens - a refreshing change from many of the programs tried previously. Your mileage may vary, but i think an accurate diagnosis of any health problems is very important before launching into this type of diet change.
