Bro. Allred, I have loved reading D&C and all the church history that goes with it. It is so encouraging to read of the willing physical sacrifices that were made the early days of the restoration. You tell of one of your ancestors connected with "the rescue". I live in the Wisconsin Pineries where willing physical sacrifices were made to harvest timber for building the Nauvoo temple (and almost anything that required wood). I have a list of the loggers who were called to the Wisconsin Pineries. On that list is Preserved Allred and Riley Alred. Just wondering if you are connected to either or both. I am a spokesperson for a group called Honoring the Mormon Loggers of the Wisconsin Pineries and we are looking for descendants of the Mormon Loggers. Would like to hear from you one way or the other.

Excellent job portraying the heroic temporal rescues done by the early Saints! Granted, spiritual rescue is of greatest import, we modern Saints can (and sometimes do) perform somewhat heroic temporal rescues when we help our ward members find employment, help search for lost Boy Scouts, rescue those stranded in the mountains, or give first aid at an accident. Your excellent article spurred me to write my blog post "Rescuing The Saints TODAY" at BuildingZion.org. Thanks!
