I guess muslims blowing up Jonah's tomb was peaceful? Or them telling Christians to convert, or pay a tax or die? What I see is the "religion of peace", blowing up in one's face. Pun intended!!

Muslims are generally nice people but their acts of kindness are necesarry as they are a works oriented religion. They need the scale to be piled high with good works.

@Steve Smith. Five minutes of online research led me to three separate websites promoting Islam which make it clear that it is perfectly acceptable for Muslims to mislead unbelievers. You also misrepresent the Arab-Israeli conflict as being non-violent. If Israel were not continually on a state of (fairly) high alert the death toll would have been significantly higher. Much better would be to point out that throughout the centuries Christianity has had its extremists, in much the same way Islam does now. In both cases the enmity and hatred was fomented for political gains, and quite often against those who were in favor of a different brand of the faith. Compare the religious wars between Catholics and Protestants with the divisions between Shia and Sunni.

Rachael, the article acknowledges that there are indeed violent groups in Islam, so it isn't as if the author is ignorant of that fact. But the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims are peaceful people. Where in Muslim scripture does it teach them to lie? I don't think you have any evidence for this. While many Muslims are not keen on Israel, you should bear in mind that the Arab-Israeli conflict is not as violent as you think. Compare the death tolls of Israelis and Arabs due to conflict in the past forty years, and it isn't nearly on the scale of the death tolls of civil war in Africa during the same period. You are wrong about moderate Muslims not speaking out against radical Muslims. In fact moderate Muslims are some of the most vociferous opponents of radical Islam primarily because in places such as Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and Pakistan, it is the moderate regular ordinary Muslims who are victims of radical violence perpetrated by Islamist groups. While violent radical Islamists have caused a big stir in recent decades, they are actually a very small percentage of all Muslims. You should research Islam and the Middle East more before you talk so boldly about it.

While I appreciate this woman's perspective and personal experience, my own personal experience and research have led me to a differing opinion. I do not condemn all Muslims, but their faith IS being taken over in todays world by a radical element which in fact, is NOT a faith, but a political organization. They do, in fact, wage war on other religions and they frankly admit that they want a world wide caliphate. Their scriptures do, in fact, teach them to lie to, deceive, and subject their "enemies"--who are defined as infidels or non-believers. They believe that any means necessary are justified in accomplishing this goal. They are comparable to the Lamanites in their enmity toward Israel. Their oppression and depravity toward women and children in their own culture is almost beyond comprehension. The fact is, VERY FEW, if any, moderate Muslims speak out against all of these things, and those who do have to hire bodyguards. While we must extend Christian kindness and respect to all, to believe that all Muslims are peace-loving and kind is just reckless and irresponsible denial. While their faith may claim to be the "religion of peace" a VERY LARGE number of their adherents live in an entirely different manner. We should not be burying our heads in the sand.

This is an excellent article. I have known many Muslims, and I have never received anything but kindness and respect from them. To show their respect for other faiths my Muslim neighbours have a poster on their wall with the words Mohammed, Jesus, Moses all connected with a golden chain. The current troubles are inspired by political instability and sectarianism, not by Islamic teachings.
