This aspect of modern turn-about has been alarming. Reformers begin by saying that they are merely trying to extend benefits, and leave alone those who already enjoy benefits. But eventually the tide turns, and social inertia causes disruption to the original paradigm. Notable is this idea of "unplanned parenthood is bad". Yeah, it is bad, as in a hardship for children, but marriage used to be the way to prepare. Since marriage doesn't serve that purpose anymore (as it's been torn down in a multitude of ways), people talk about "unplanned pregnancies" that occur in marriage! And "planned" children without marriage! Because the badness of unplanned parenthood used to be the harm to the child, but now the 'badness of unplanned parenthood' is like the badness of a traffic jam. It's something that gets in the way of your schedule. Our children deserve more consideration of their needs. Parents talk and talk about how to provide the best for children, fretting over the smallest temporal frustrations they face, but then turn around and discount deep yearnings of the human soul having to do with parentage, and often placing direct disadvantages on those still maintaining a reliable strategy for benefiting children.

The growing acceptance and promotion of same-sex marriage is leading down a slippery slope to inevitable consequences. Recently in the news is a story about a daughter marrying her father. The couple will be living in New Jersey where there are no laws against incest. I believe that polygamy will eventually become legal in many states in part because polygamy is practiced among Muslims.
