Mr. Romney or Brother Romney gave a fine speech. The big problem is what others have already stated: Where was this "fire in the belly" four years ago??? It would have been more powerful and legitimate if he would have at least acknowledged that. The other damning part of the whole thing is to watch clips of him accepting Trump's endorsement last time and Mitt's kissing up to him. I worry Mitt has cozied up to the Republican party and I'm fed up with the party. I don't really know what to think of Donald Trump, but find myself less worried than Glenn Beck and Mitt Romney. Mr. Trump can also throw a wrench in the whole works since he simply can run third party if he doesn't get the nomination and guarantee the Democrat candidate wins the election. If he already knows how to work both sides through campaign donations.....what's he care? Finally, many believe we're past the tipping point culture wise and debt wise since the national debt is long past the point of ever being able to be paid off. We can't even balance a one year budget, let alone begin to chip away at the staggering trillions we owe........arggg

As I listened and then read Mitt's remarks, I felt sure that all Christians were thinking that finally, "someone is saying what needs to be said." The warnings needed to be given and I am thankful that Mitt had the courage and wisdom to speak out against Trump's being unpresidential and lack of wisdom and his egotistical blather. He has no plan how to "Make America Great Again". When Trump speaks nearly every sentence or phrase begins with "I" .Trump only wants to make himself great. How dare he brag of his adultery and use fowl language and jokes while running to be President of the United States. I have no doubt that the Pilgrims and Puritans, whose Christian values and ethics we still try to live after 400 years, would have Trump in the stocks for 100 years. I hope that we will all remember the great heritage and wisdom of our forefathers, wherever they came from, to elect good, wise, and knowledgeable men to be our president.

So sorry for Brother Romney, an elitist. So sorry for those of us who use religion to judge the political candidates. Read the Book of Mormon to understand were we are in the history of the world. Elite were part of the corruption in the Nephite history. The media commentators are not prophets be careful who you listen to and who you value in your decision making process.

The real question that comes to mind is why didn't Mitt say the same things to and about Obama before he was elected the first time, and why, oh why, didn't he say anything of the sort during his presidential debates with Obama about Obama's record four years ago? Where was the warning then? Why is Mitt so sure that Trump is a phony and a recipe for disaster now? I find the arguments against Trump a little hard to swallow. Trump is a successful unifier and a wildly successful business man which are two things Americans desperately need just now. In fact the world needs this type of ability from our hegemonic country the rest of the world looks up to for leadership and direction. We need strength in leadership because as we have seen over the past 8 years, a weak leader allows for petty dictators to flourish by the dozens. And the world is a much more dangerous place as a result! Reagan was despised by those fearful for strong leadership, yet he WON THE COLD WAR!!! I fear the same holds true for Trump. Personally I am a Cruz supporter, but the same fear mongering seems to apply to the Cruz campaign as well. ANY current Republican candidate is lightyears ahead of the current Democratic candidates yet we parse and snipe ourselves to death until the opposition wins. I feel Mitt has done a monstrous disservice to the conservative cause, and I almost feel that he is acting as a shill for the Democratic effort currently.

In my post below I didn't type in the work "not" in the sentence stating that I am "not" a big Trump fan......Sorry! :-)

I listened to the speech given by Mitt Romney and I agreed with much of what he said. However, I was also left questioning what his motive was for giving this speech. Was it motivated by a love of God and country or was he asked to give this speech by the Republican establishment? I believe in and love conservative principles. But once again I am left wondering if the Republican establishment will ever flex it's muscles and make a conservative come back. I am a big Trump fan. I will be voting for Ted Cruz. That being said, if Trump wins the nomination I will definitely vote for Trump over Clinton or Sanders. I believe we need to vote for the best candidate in the primary election. If the best doesn't win the primary election I think we have to take a risk on Trump. Clinton and Sanders and their deep socialist beliefs will for sure continue to take us further into the moral sewage and decay of America.

A “Stop Trump” movement is not likely to put a Republican in the White House. Republican leaders need to understand why SO MANY voters support Trump and then offer a candidate and platform which address those very real concerns, without Trump’s negatives. Siphoning off Trump’s base might succeed, while a “stop Trump” movement will disenfranchise smaller-government Republicans and assure a Democrat victory. Small government Republicans made their voices heard in the 2010 and 2014 Congressional elections, and the big government Republican leaders in Congress have ignored their concerns at every turn!
Mike AstonMarch 7, 2016
The last time I looked, the Constitution of these United States proclaims that this government is a government "of the people, by the people and for the people"! In this current process regarding the candidacy for the presidency of the United States, the people have spoken loud and clear and their voice is contrary to what the power merchants who control this nation want to hear. Donald Trump is a very real threat to the existing corruption that is lining the pockets of these individuals. They can see that his ascendancy to the presidency would end abruptly their ability to fleece the people of this nation. What the American people need to remember is that this government was created by men inspired of God to lay the foundation of the most unique and free nation ever to stand on this earth. We have been slowly and systematically programmed to accept the agenda that our modern-day leaders have been spoon-feeding us over the years. The American people, using their God-given free agency, have spoken loud and clear and their voice should be acknowledged and revered. To see how the establishment is bringing all its might to bear on destroying Trump's legitimate run for the presidency, should be disturbing to all who have the sense to see what is happening. That there exists those individuals who seek to portray themselves as being respectable and upright members of our Republic, yet, voluntarily join the ranks of those who seek to destroy the right of the people to choose who it is that they desire to lead our nation, should infuriate every true American and inspire them to seek retribution for those who are a party to such activity.

I deeply regret Romney's approach in this speech. I would have much preferred that he endorse a candidate and explain all the reasons why he thinks his recommendation should be president. His attack on Trump will likely have the same effect as movie critics who report that a movie is truly awful: more people will go out to see it and it is highly unlikely that many will be discouraged from their support of Donald Trump.

Mitt gave a very courageous speech warning the people about the dangers of electing a charlatan like Donald Trump. I don't agree with everything he says and I wished he had talked like that while running against Obama. Too many people are being very gullible believing everything Trump says. Can't they see how arrogant, rude, and disgusting he is acting. He doesn't act like a President should and is threatening libel suits against those media outlets who criticize him. Whatever happened to free speech and the First Amendment? Trump is being a bully and it should worry Americans.
Jill WilliamsMarch 4, 2016
I, too, am grateful that Mitt is speaking out on this disaster! I am also grateful that many others are joining in. I agree with Frankie Boswell...is it too late for him to step in? There are so many people ready for a change and I believe they would get behind Mitt in force. We need an actual choice and NOT more of all this craziness we've had for the last 8 years! This seems almost MORE dangerous then even that! Lets all work together and GET SOMETHING DONE!
Jim TerryMarch 4, 2016
I was a supporter of Romney but it's a little late for him to speak up. He should have done that 4 years ago against Obama. Romney is not a conservative and represents the established Republican party which has consistently failed us. Romney should not have brought up Trump taxes. He did not like it when Reid did. By coming out he is slamming all the republicans who have voted for Trump. The party needs to unite whoever is the candidate whether we really like him or not. If we don't unite then we will have 8 years of Hillary. Anyone, even Trump would be better for the country especially with nominating Supreme Court judges. I am a Cruz supporter but could not bear 8 more years of a democrat.
RobMarch 4, 2016
If only he had this clarion voice 4 years ago when he was the man, instead of today when he's the man who lost. It's so sad we've waited this long for his voice. Where has he been?
Wendy PrayMarch 4, 2016
Wow. Go Mitt.
FrebaMarch 4, 2016
Why wasn't he a "clarion warning voice" when it came to Obama four years ago? It seems to me that he's four years too late. Dennis Miller said that if "Romney had done to Obama what he's doing to Trump, we wouldn't be in this mess." Why is it that Republicans are plenty willing to smear each other but not the Democrats?
Roger KentMarch 4, 2016
Governor Romney you are spot on!! And had you spoke out with such a clear voice in your campaign you would have won by a landslide. And we wouldn't have the current Trump in the oval office now. No one will admit it in public because it isn't "politically correct" to do so but the populace is tired of being "BRAINWASHED" both by the political power brokers and the media. In 1951 a UCLA student from India spoke in our high school assembly. During the Q/A session I asked her if she thought her country would become Communist. She responded that she was afraid so because she felt that when people are without hope they will respond to a promise even if they know it is a lie.

I am disappointed in Mitt Romney, speaking out against and calling Mr. Trump names. I am not a Trump fan and don't plan to vote for him in the primary, but I do not see Mr. Romney's point, other than he was cow-towing to the elite Republican Establishment. Many of us in the Republican party want to see these elitist Establishment-types terminated from their positions of power because they no longer speak for or work for us, those who elected them - they are working for themselves against what's best for the country. If Mr. Romney had gone after Mr. Obama in 2012 the way he's going after Donald Trump now, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. Just sayin'. . . Thanks for listening.
WSMarch 4, 2016
Where was tough guy Mitt when the country needed him, 4 years ago? If he had gone after Obama like he is Trump we wouldn't have a Trump to talk about. I'm ashamed of this dignified man being used by the establishment as their attack dog. I am not a Trump fan. I voted for Mitt. Many things he said were true. But it is too little too late; and tone deaf to boot. He and most establishment folks don't get it. They created the chaos out of which Trump as emerged.
Gina SmurthwaiteMarch 4, 2016
Pity Romney wasn't this vocal against Obama in 2012.
Marjorie KramerMarch 4, 2016
I've been praying for help that the nation would wake up and realize how dangerous it is to remain silent and let Trump and Clinton go forward without the voice of reason being spoken.
Mary J. KankampMarch 4, 2016
Thanks much to Mr.Mitt Romney for his courage to speak his wise, intelligent and true counsel. I admire his courage to say what needs heard. Hopefully our citizens will vote for a righteous, wise candidate for President of the United States.

Discussing Mitt Romney’s anti-Trump speech yesterday, Gingrich said it represented “the panic of the establishment wing of the (Republican) Party,” and that the prospect of Trump becoming the nominee “absolutely drives them crazy”. When asked why, Gingrich responded, “Well because he’s an outsider, he’s not them, he’s not part of the club, he’s uncontrollable, he hasn’t been through the initiation rites, he didn’t belong to the secret society.” Gingrich is in a perfect position to know about “secret societies” given his affiliation with Bohemian Grove, an annual encampment that takes place every year in Monte Rio, California and is attended by some of the most powerful people in the world. Gingrich’s photograph is featured in the Annals of the Bohemian Club, Volume 7, 1987-1996 alongside George W. Bush and his father. https://www.infowars.com/gingrich-establishment-scared-of-trump-because-he-didnt-belong-to-secret-society/

I am most definitely Mitt Romney's biggest fan. However, I was very disappointed that he did not offer a choice or choices for us in his warning. It is fine to complain, warn, disapprove, etc., but it is HELPFUL to offer an alternative solution. What do we do now?
Frankie BoswellMarch 4, 2016
Thank goodness we are finally hearing from Gov. Romney. We have needed his voice in this political chaos. I had hoped he would run again. People are not rallying around either of the two Republican alternatives. Is it too late for Romney to step in? I don't have much hope for a future with Trump at the helm.
Cheryl QuinnMarch 4, 2016
There is no doubt Trump is the fulfillment of latter-day prophesy telling of false "prophets" who will deceive even the very elect. Trump represents evil but the scariest part is that so many Americans are enthusiastically supporting him. Romney's decision to speak out was courageous. He realized it wouldn't be popular and he was right. Immediately, the media including Rush and Hannity mocked him. Now is the time for Americans to stand up and speak out if we want our country to survive!
