PHOTO ESSAY

Editors’ Note: Please see all the Meridian articles on the Philippines here: www.ldsmag.com/cebu Most of what I shoot as a photographer never gets published. I remember, as a child, hearing that the National Geographic photographers would shoot at a ratio of nearly 1,000 to 1. I understand that now. One particular day in the Philippines I shot 2,173 images. The morning I got to the temple at 4:45 AM to do the photo shoot I clicked off a mere 686 shots. You get the picture.   I wanted to let you see just a few of the pictures, my favorites actually, that I shot of President Thomas S. Monson. He is about the most pleasant person I have ever met. His positive nature in his talks comes out in his personal interactions with the Saints. He is warm and friendly. He is caring and real. He loves the youth. He cares for the aged. In his eyes are sermons of charity. Please come and enjoy with me about a dozen shots of President Monson in the Philippines. I hope you will feel the Spirit I did as I walked near this Prophet of God.
