Dear President Albright,

I have loved my mission in Northern Virginia. I want to share my conversion story with you before I return home to my family in Mongolia next week.

It all started about 15 years ago when I was just 8 years old. One day my mom’s friend took her to an LDS sacrament meeting in Ulaanbaatar. My mom met the missionaries there. She had a lot of questions about God. She wanted to know who Jesus Christ was. Almost everyone in Mongolia is Buddhist. She invited the missionaries to come to our house to teach us about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This was during a hard time for our family. Sometimes we did not have enough food to eat or adequate clothing to wear for our harsh Mongolian winters. But my mom knew that something was missing from our family life.

About a week later the missionaries came to our house to teach us. I remember feeling so happy when they were in our home. There was something good and special about them. I later learned it was the Holy Ghost.

One day the missionaries came to our house and taught us about the Book of Mormon. They showed us a copy of the Book of Mormon in English. We spoke and read only Mongolian. They told us that this book is another testament of Jesus Christ. They asked us to pray and ask God if the book is true. They promised us we would receive an answer from God.

I remember my mom told the missionaries that we could not read this English book but only Mongolian. At that time the Book of Mormon had not yet been translated into Mongolian. The missionaries told us they would come back in a few days. When they returned about a week later, they had a little piece of paper with them. On that paper they had translated for us one short verse from the Book of Mormon into Mongolian. It was 3 Nephi 11:10.  They told us to read this short verse and then ask God if the Book of Mormon is true. They promised us we would receive an answer from Heavenly Father.

After the missionaries left our house, my family knelt down and prayed to Heavenly Father and asked if the book was true. We received an answer that it was true. My father agreed to be baptized and he stopped smoking.  We were all baptized as a family two weeks later.

Several years after our baptism the Book of Mormon was translated into Mongolian and we could finally begin reading it as a family.  It was very special to read it in my own language.  I know that it is the word of God and contains the fullness of the teachings of Jesus Christ.  I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he translated the Book of Mormon.
