If you’re looking for the perfect music to set the tone around your home on the Sabbath or to invite the Spirit more fully into your life day-to-day, I highly recommend pianist Garth Smith’s latest offering, Sacred Hymns. On paper it’s simply a collection of hymns performed on the piano, but Smith invests such passion, testimony, and tenderness into his arrangements that he elicits powerful emotions in the listener. He’s a talented performer, using his gifts to inspire faith and glorify the Lord through the power of music. I listened to the album in my car this week and felt my soul uplifted and pacified.
