Fablehaven Series Debuts #6 on New York Times List

Dragons hold their own against vampires and wimpy kids

SALT LAKE CITY : Shadow Mountain Publishing announced today that local author Brandon Mull’s fantasy series Fablehaven debuted at #6 on the New York Times bestselling children’s series list. The honor comes after the March 24 release of book four of the series, Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary.

Mull ‘s dragons certainly held their own against the vampires, flying creatures and wimpy kids sitting atop the coveted New York Times children’s list.

The Fablehaven series follows the adventures of a brother and sister who set out to save a preserve for enchanted creatures. Christopher Paolini, bestselling author of Eragon said Fablehaven, “kept me turning the pages until 4:40 in the morning . deep, intriguing, magical . one of the most enjoyable fantasies I’ve read.”

The Hollywood Reporter said, “The series is generating buzz as a contender in the fantasy-adventure genre to replace the Harry Potter franchise,” and The Washington Post and Publishers Weekly have mentioned Fablehaven as a solid candidate to be the next big Fantasy series. The movie rights were optioned by Avi Arad, producer of such movies as Spider Man, Iron Man, and X-Men.

Mull has been busy traveling the country with the launch of book four, with major events in Salt Lake City, Phoenix; Los Angeles; St. Louis; Hartford, Connecticut; and Dallas. 

The first volume, Fablehaven, was first published in June of 2006 and hit the New York Times bestselling children’s paperback list a year later. The second volume, Rise of the Evening Star, debuted on the New York Times children’s bestselling chapter books list in May of 2007. Volume three, Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague, pushed the entire series onto the New York Times bestselling children’s series list.
