Salt Lake City, Utah — Sharon Swensen, co-chair of the film department at Brigham Young University, has announced that Rodney Henson, David Broberg and Alan Williams will be the keynote speakers of BYU’s February 2nd Film Forum entitled “The Moving Image: Conversations about Film and Spirit” at the Museum of Art Auditorium on the BYU campus. The speakers have been asked to address their experiences as a film maker and a film viewer.

Henson, Broberg and Williams are all connected from their work on the New Harmony Pictures film Suits on the Loose, which will be released in theaters by HaleStorm Entertainment on February 3rd 2006.

“We are honored to be a part of this film forum,” said Henson, writer and director for Suits on the Loose. For Alan, David and me, it is not so much about speaking about Suits as helping inspire and motivate film students to achieve their dreams. I believe between the three of us, with our backgrounds at BYU, UCLA, USC, Disney, Fox, DreamWorks, Sony, etc. we can contribute professional insight and perspective that is unique and motivational.”

Henson, a graduate from the BYU film program and UCLA Masters Screenwriting Program, is a former executive for Walt Disney Feature and Television Production. He also worked for DreamWorks SKG and 20th Century Fox. “I’m excited about being back on the BYU campus and to give back to the program that helped inspire me as a filmmaker and storyteller.”

Broberg is a film editor who worked for Disney Studios. He then left to pursue freelance work and earned editing credits on box office favorites like Titanic, 8MM, Father of the Bride II, and Phenomenon. Alan Williams is a well-known composer and conductor who graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University Music in Composition and then got his graduate degree in Scoring for Motion Picture and Television from USC.

“Each of us has remained in Hollywood and have survived for many years with our integrity and morals intact, and are making movies we are proud to be a part of,” said Henson. “We look forward to encouraging other BYU film hopefuls to do the same.”

BYU film students have the opportunity to view Henson’s film Suits on the Loose on January 30th in the Varsity and then attend the discussion to talk about all aspects of filmmaking, from conception to production and distribution.
