SALT LAKE CITY – Individuals attending the 173rd General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are encouraged to come early to prevent possible delays from security checks.

Each individual who enters the Conference Center Saturday, 5 April and Sunday, 6 April will pass through the magnetometers and bag check similar to the security efforts during the Olympic Games. Before gaining access to the parking areas, selected vehicles will be inspected.

Cameras, recording devices, food backpacks, large bags and packages will not be allowed in the Conference Center. Conference participants are encouraged to leave these items at home.

These security measures were used successfully during the recent Young Women’s meeting. No significant delays were experienced.

Tickets are required for entry into the Conference Center for all Saturday and Sunday sessions. Local Church leaders are responsible for the distribution of conference tickets and Church members are asked to obtain tickets from their ecclesiastical leaders.

The doors of the Conference Center will open 90 minutes prior to each session. Ticket holders should be in their seats at least 30 minutes before the session begins. Persons 8 years of age and older with tickets will be admitted.

Overflow areas will be available in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and in the Tabernacle. Spanish translation of the conference proceedings will be provided in the Assembly Hall.

All general sessions can be viewed live on KSL-TV, KBYU-TV (Channel 11) and BYUTV (DirecTV channel 374 and DISH Network channel 9403). General sessions will also be available on a tape-delayed basis on KBYU-TV. In addition, all sessions will be transmitted via satellite to approximately 1500 cable television systems, plus radio and television stations in the United States and Canada as a local public service.

Conference sessions will be translated live into 56 languages and transmitted via satellite to numerous areas of the world.

Those attending conference sessions are asked to carpool or use public transportation to relieve downtown traffic congestion.
