This article really touched me as I have just experienced losing a sweetheart of 55 years to a terrible disease. The savior is the answer to our grief. Maureen your gift is in touching others with your writing. Thank you!

One of the best articles ever on the atonement. You helped me understand why my husband had to suffer so much during his battle with Parkinson’s disease . You have helped me through the grief of his passing. Our Savior is the answer to our pain. Thank you Sister Procter. You have a gift to touch others through your words.

I had an identical realization when I lost my son. There was a moment of almost unbearable heaviness in which I begged for relief. The feeling lifted gradually until it was gone and slowly replaced with a feeling almost of joy. I said right out loud, "How is it done?" The answer filled my mind. It was just as you described. The Savior had born that weight before I ever was. That experience became the bedrock of my testimony--absolutely real and undeniable. These are not "cunningly devised fables" but truths as real as the sun rising. We are known and we are loved and we are never, for one millisecond alone.

I came to understand he suffered before i got to that point on my time line because he experiences time differently during my pancreatic cancer adventure.

Yes, this is the Jesus who wept for love and compassion for the suffering of those around him (John 11:35; 3 Nephi 17:21). How far he is from the God of most of the Christian world who is "impassible" and unfeeling.

This moving article brought tears to my eyes, even the picture of the leper who Christ healed, but probably didn't just touch, but embraced after years of never feeling the touch and the love of another Then came Jesus and didn't just touch him, he blessed him. Unbelievable love! Thank you! My love and heart goes out to you!
