I believe any true professional genealogist will scoff at the idea that there are true lines leading all the way back to Adam and Eve. You may find concocted lines created by so-called experts hired primarily by royalty but you will also find great gaps in time especially as they try to link people back to Biblical characters.

Don't miss all the extra groups you can match your tree with besides the built-in groups. Anyone can create one. Such groups as US military leaders and presidents of various countries, governors of US states, US baseball players, the founders of Canada, and many more are available in the featured and community groups. This is especially useful for people whose ancestry is not early LDS or New England. And it allows kids on visits to the Discovery Centers additional ways to find a match if they don't connect to the main groups of LDS and US leaders.

There's an old country & western song titled, "I'm My Own Grampa". Sounds like there may well be some truth to that.

My half sister and I are related by marriage...she was born in Wyoming, I was born in California, but we both married men from the same low population county in Utah...

You should try Virtual Pedigree. From what I understand it takes the dead ends in your FamilySearch data and then tries to add to those deadends other well know genealogies. I was able to trace one line all the way back to Adam and Eve. And it shows how many generations each person is from from you. So according to this program it is 130 generations from me to Adam & Eve. I was astonished! I don't know what I expecyed but 130 generations seemed low to me. If you divide 6,000 years by 130 you get 46 years per generation. That seems a little high to me. I would have expected about 25-30 years per generation, but who knows. For the first 2,000 years people lived for hundreds of years, so maybe. I'm not saying I completely trust the data, but it was sure interesting.

Explore some of the community and featured groups others have created. These groups extend into many other countries than the standard famous US people. The site is especially strong on Canadian political leaders but also includes the prime ministers of most western European countries and a few in Asia and South America.
