How ironic that our culture is so obsessed with fictional super heroes, while men and women like President Monson are being ignored. Maybe it's more of an interest in fast paced violence than true heroism.

I feel President S. Monson had to have been one of the Lord's most special spirits in the pre-existence, saved to join us on this earth when men were starving for a super example to follow. He was huge then and just the same while here. His heart truly is as big as the man. How I wish to be more like him..

Beautiful interview. I heard Sister Swinton speak at Rootstech several years ago and was so struck with HER demeanor that I understood why President Monson chose her to write his biography. Thank you for this lovely reflection of a great man who, as his daughter said, wore himself out serving the Lord.

I want to share a personal account of service President Monson rendered in my life that may not be well known in the Church. For most of my life LDS Church policy was that someone seeking a sealing cancellation needed to be getting remarried and sealed to another before the cancellation would be granted. Unfortunately, the evil and mentally ill among the men of the Church often used this inability to receive a sealing cancellation to manipulate and attempt to control a former wife, continuing their threats and manipulations long after divorce dissolved the marriage. Church leaders usually misunderstood the dynamic and continued to insist that the policy of the Church was inspired. In my own case, my bishop laughed at me when in despair I approached him to insist that I must receive a sealing cancellation. But President Monson was listening to the Lord. He modified the policy, saying he felt the person seeking a sealing cancellation would not lose the sealing blessings given in the temple just because the sealing was cancelled and that the person was not then ready to be resealed. For so many I know, this change allowed us to finally begin the healing process. After literally decades of abuse, the wounds could close. I pay tribute to President Monson for his true affinity for the Savior. He listened and heard. May God bless him and his family forever. And may God someday forgive all the men who claimed the priesthood of our Saviour, but really never knew Him.

All Prophets are different and accomplish different tasks in their lives and callings. 'All that the Father hast shall be thine' is an important concept that President Monson's life radiated. If there was a greater Prophet of hope, who might that be? God bless the memory of greatness in the person of Thomas Spenser Monson, know as Tommy Monson to millions. He is with Jesus and Joseph and all with the Father.

We love our prophet. I will use parts of this for a sacrament talk in a week. Hi to Ann-Marie Jensen, give my best to Noel.

The greatest fear I have when people repeat stories from President Monson's life is that they will see him as an exception to place on a pedestal and not an example to follow. That will be a tragedy.

Reading this article touched me as much if not more than reading the book. Thank you for the honesty and candidness that was felt throughout the article. It gave me a better sense of the greatness that is President Monson. Very inspiring.

Oh dear Maurine, Thank you, Thank you for this beautiful, timely article. My heart is full and so are my eyes!! I'm so grateful that Heidi Swinton would share her personal journey with our dear President Monson, that we would be blessed with another deep glimpse into what being a true Disciple of Christ, a prophet of God looks like.
