It's interesting also how this parallels the Book of Mormon. It seems that most, if not all, of the wars and conflicts were started by those who were trouble-making dissenters who stirred up the Lamanites to anger against the Nephites and others who were trying to live the Gospel. We see it in modern times as well, as many of those who try to stir up controversies and animosity towards the church are quite often those who were once members.
