I had read the other gentleman's research on the date of the first vision in the past. I feel the same way today that I did then. How fortunate we are to keep weather records over the past century or so so that we can have a pretty good idea when the first vision occurred. I have a testimony that that date is correct. I also have a strong feeling that it doesn't matter what the date was it only matters what happened.

The criteria set here by the researchers assumes that Joseph Smith was operating from a strict definition of his terms rather than a more casual and ambiguous use of terms. For example, why couldn't Joseph Smith have meant February through early June in reference to spring? In other words, the definition of terms set by the researchers are meaningless. The definitions that matter would be Joseph Smith's...and we don't have those.

I also find it interesting that there were 3 x 100 synodic lunar cycles from the First Vision to the Martyrdom using two decimal points per cycle (300 x 29.53 days).

yes, but I am in PA right now and even if it warmed up for just a couple of days there would still be mud and snow and no tinge of green that qualifies it as 'a beautiful spring day'. North spring comes later. In NH and NY one must endure 'mud season' before the first tinge of green which is most often the first week of May. Isn't it delightful to contemplate on that 'beautiful spring day' that forever changed the world!?!

Another significant event not mentioned in this article....the timing of the 1st Presidency giving Proclamation of the Family aligned with the Feast of Trumpets=a warning to the world. The Lord has certainly woven a gorgeous tapestry of significant dates!
