Dipping the body into the water was an old technique for cleansing. It was especially used in Tuberculosis; the patients slept in the open air all the time, and were taken to rituals baths allowing the tide to bring in the sea water to cover thew body. The techniques gave its name to the hospital that was under royal patronage, hence: "The Royal Sea-Bathing Hospital" in Margate, on the south coast of England, where I first worked in 1949! [Since the introduction of Streptomycin, which was the first medicine/antibiotic developed to cure the ailment. Since the sea breeze is so beneficial to the chest, it is now a chest hospital.

The 'action' of Elijah upon the child who had 'died' is the action that first responders make in what we now would call CPR: This being the very first time it initiated revitalizing a child who had stopped breathing! e.g. laying on the child would compreress the chest, and blowing into the face/nostrils is akin to ventilating the lungs.
